Back Pain Causes - The Major Ones

Since childhood, his mother advised him to sit with his back straight. His mother knew that wrong posture was one of the major back pain causes and millions suffered from it. But, he never listened. And today, he is sitting at the doctor's clinic repenting for not having heeded to his mother.

We are talking about Tom. He has been struck with severe back pain that refuses to leave him. And he is not alone. About 8 out of 10 Americans complain of this back dilemma. Moreover, the interesting thing is that, most of them are their own causes of back pain. They don't realize that a little change in posture can make a huge difference to their spine. Yes, they do realize; but when it's too late. Their back has already been attacked!

The Sinister Jerk

Sitting at the clinic, Tom remembered how his mother chided him for his slouching sitting habit. She had told him that this was one of the chief back pain causes. And how could he forget the day when he had lifted the heavy pot in their garden? He wanted to show his mother how strong he had become and lifted the pot with a jerk. How his mother got mad at him!

He could still remember her advice: always bend your knees when lifting heavy objects. Never lift them with a jerk, as it puts all the strain on your spine.

But once more, Tom has made a mistake of not heeding his mother's advice; and now he is at the clinic. Last week, he had lifted a heavy slab of stone by direct bending and ouch, how it hurt!

Other Causes Of Lower Back Pain

Tom's doctor informed him that he had sprained his spinal muscle while trying to lift the slab abruptly. He not only prescribed him the treatment for his back pain, but also told him about other back pain causes. Other low back pain causes include some infection in spine, problems in kidney, lungs, or reproductive organ of female, and pregnancy.

The last cause is something that almost every pregnant women experiences, as her belly becomes heavy. Here again, correct posture and proper care can prevent aggravation of the situation.

One of the major back pain causes is that we take our back for granted. However, the truth is, it requires the most care, as our spine is the "backbone" of our body.
