Back Pain Remedy - Home Remedy For Back Pain

Back pain is not something that cannot be cured. If you can describe the symptoms of your problem correctly and follow the right back pain remedy, there is no reason why you should not get rid of the problem. Most people who are suffering from backache do not visit a health care professional. The reason is that their busy working schedule does not allow them enough time for that. Besides that, they consider it a waste of money. In simple words, they do not take it seriously. Even home therapies can be useful only when you start taking your problem seriously. The following home remedies can be very helpful for mild back pain, such as strain felt in lower back while doing things like gardening or lifting heavy boxes. The idea is to get informed on how heat, ice, massage, and some common over-the-counter pain medications can help for minor back problems.

Stop Doing The Activity That Led To The Problem

Most of the times, when we hurt our back, especially on a busy day, we forget the resulting mild or moderate pain. We continue with the activity without paying much attention to our back pain. This only aggravates the problem. First of all, you are strongly advised to stop doing the activity that actually led to backache in the first place.

Applying Heat

If it is a case of acute injury, you should avoid applying heat on it. Unlike ice, heat can actually make the inflammation worse. Still, heat may be a back pain remedy to you if you know when and how to use it. For example, it is always advised to apply heat on the painful area at least 2-3 minutes after it has started. Heat relaxes the stubborn muscle spasms, relieving you from the pain.

Appling Ice

Sometimes when you hurt your back, inflammation may be caused on the affected area. Inflammation should never be left unchecked. If you do so, it may result in a chronic problem with your back. Applying ice can be very helpful to control inflammation and reduce back pain. After you start feeling the pain, you can apply ice on the affected areas for up to forty-eight to seventy-two hours. There are several ways to do that. For example, you can fill some crushed ice in a plastic bag. Now, you can use put this ice bag on the areas where you are feeling pain. However, the recommended way is to put a towel first on the affected area and then put the ice bag on the towel. Applying ice directly on the area of pain is not at all recommended as a back pain remedy. Moreover, you should not put the ice bag for longer than 15-20 minutes. After every 20 minute, you must take a break of at least 40 minutes and then repeat the process.

Getting a massage done can be another great idea to get relief from back pain. However, this back pain remedy will require a helper. You obviously cannot massage your back yourself. You can ask your spouse or partner to do the needful.
